Deferral / Regrading Conditions

If you have been referred on one or more parts of your grading here are the requirements for training before you can qualify for your grading retake.

Refer on one element only (beginner to 1st Kyu).

If you have not passed one element of your grading (Kihon, Kata or Kumite) then you will be required to retake the one element again as long as you meet the following requirements;

  • Three months have elapsed since your current referral.
  • To attend the minimum amount of lessons required for that belt, not including lessons attended before the referred grading. In the case of a 3rd Kyu or above, where there is a minimum wait of six months between grading, you will be required to complete 50% of the minimum lesson requirement (e.g. 2nd Kyu referral retake requirements would be a three month wait and 24 lessons).
  • Your training record card is signed by an instructor.

Refer on two or more elements (beginner to 1st Kyu).

If you have not passed two or more elements of your grading (Kihon, Kata or Kumite) then you will be required to retake the whole grading (all three elements) again as long as you meet the following requirements;
