The Traditional Shotokan Karate UK held its second annual National Championships for over 100 karate exponents at Hertfordshire Sports Village on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th July 2011. ESKA entered a team of 50 members to compete in several different categories.  We  achieved a clutch of 73 awards including 24 gold, 27 silver and 22 bronze medals. The results are as follows;

The Eastern Shotokan Karate Association held the first Tiny Tigers’ Grading of 2011 at Breckland Leisure Centre in February. 6 children aged between 4 and 6 years attended the Grading and the hard work and commitment of the youngster’s was reflected by the 100% pass rate.

Congratulation’s go to 4 of ESKA’s new Tiny Tiger’s who graded for the first time, proudly achieving their Red T-Shirts – Nathaniel Barrett, Callum Metson, Rosie Wales and Alfie Wards.

The Eastern Shotokan Karate Association has just held the final of its four annual gradings of 2010.  Bannatyne’s Health Club and Sewell Park College Sports Centre played host to the successful winter event with over 350 members participating from all over Norfolk, taking them one step closer to achieving their black belts.

With over 90 of ESKA’s members grading for the first time the standard was set by the novices achieving an astounding 100% pass rate and an impressive 14 distinction passes, including Ozzy Allen, Charlie Baldwin, Charlotte Carroll, Louis Dobson, Daniel Smith, Olivia Taylor, Oliver Uppiah and Luke Walton achieving their red belt. Jake Cutter, Rebekah Holland, Lewis Love, Louis Mian, Abigail Waite and Daniel Watson and all achieved distinction passes and obtained the rare honour of a double-grade advancing directly on to their Orange Belt.

Other Distinction passes over the three weekends included Rosie Johnson James Middleton (Orange Belt), Chiara Bettoni, Patrick Cullumbine, Oliver Daniels, Mario Gomez, Stuart Gray, Jasmine Haylett, William Marshall (Yellow Belt), Sean Field-Walton (Green Belt), Jake Hammond (Purple Belt), Alex Nesbitt (Purple & White Belt) and Jordan Potter (Brown & Double White Belt).

They will all be receiving a special award for their achievements which will be presented at ESKA’s biannual presentation evening.
